Annuity Rates UK - June 2021 review

Standard annuity rates have been increased by 0.98% from providers for the month of June.

Our benchmark example of a 65 year old with £100,000 buying a single life, level annuity increased by 2.66% and offering an income of £5,133 pa, the highest level for two years.

Demand for bonds and gilts increased sending yields lower as the Federal Reserve intends to continue with the $120 billion per month asset-purchases until there is evidence of substantial economic progress.

This has resulted in a slight decrease on the 15-year gilt yields reducing to 8 basis points to 1.07% for the month.

Providers of standard annuities increased annuity rates by an average of 0.98% for this month and we would expect rates to fall by -1.78% in the short term if yields remain at current levels.

For smoker and enhanced annuity providers have reduced their rates by an average of -0.14% and rates and we would expect rates to fall by -0.66% in the short term if yields do not fall.
